  1. yes maybe, in the first half of the season, there was so much hype but now, they are just winning and everyone knows they are a good team so they dont say anything.

  2. Yes, I think so. Here is what I think:

The Rays, the AL East division leader, have been getting all of this hype with ESPN, the same stories being told, all of that. They have got all the hype in the world.

The Cubs, the NL Central leaders, have gotten all of this hype, because of the 100 years, and now they are in first. Is this the year? Well, we'll talk about it every single day to let everyone know our opinions, and make sure that everyone knows they are in first.

The Twins/White Sox, the AL Central leaders, have gotten hype, not as much as others, but enough to have the skeptics looking.

The Diamondbacks/Dodgers, the NL West leaders, have just acquired Adam Dunn and Manny Ramirez. Need I say more?

The Angles, the AL West leaders, have the best record in baseball, sweep teams constantly, acquired Teixiera, playing good baeball. The hype is what they deserve, so I don't mind that.

The Mets, the NL East leaders......

Oh wait, the PHILLIES, the NL East leaders. Sorry, I hear so much about the Mets in the East that I didn't know. Forgot a little bit.

  3. Unless it's the Mets, the division leader of the NL east will always be quiet this year. This is because the Mets are the single most overrated team in baseball. Both the Phillies and Marlins are better, and neither of them gets much hype.

You hear a lot about Brad Lidge on Sportscenter, since he is the best closer in the league, though. As for the Mets' bullpen, they are probably better off without Wagner, since he has a whopping 7 blown saves so far.

  4. "Top Contributor" - The Phillies have had more than 40 sold out games this year...no fan base? Thats not it.

After their ridiculous slump in June, the spotlight moved and never came back. But regardless, they are back to being amazing, 10 games over 500 and hopefully, will soon make their season high of 14 above. The Mets, honestly, aren't a threat anymore. Not because they can't creep up and take first, they can, but their bullpen is so despicable it's actually really embarrassing for them how many games they should have won but lost. Since their 10 game win streak, the Mets are a well below average 10-12. Coming off that kind of streak, the Mets should have still been on fire, but for some reason they weren't, and I don't see that much shakiness as promising. I think the Phils have this wrapped up if they play to their potential, and if they don't it really probably will be anyone's game for the division. However, I believe that the Phillies are the only team in the NL East who have hopes for successful postseason play.

  5. Everyone knows they are a good team. It won't be a surprise if they win. With Howard, Utley and Burrell in their line up it would be a surprise if they don't win.  They have the tools to win so unless they get the Mets 07 syndrome, they should go to the playoffs.

The reason you don't hear much is because ESPN only likes the Red Sox.

  6. I think they could. They're competing in a very competitive competion(not really anymore with the Mets 'pen) and can hit very well for power. But pitchingwise, I'm a bit concerned. I think a much more capable team would have to be the Marlins and it will be a tight race. They've got a great array of young pitchers, great batters, and a good chance at the division in the East

  7. They don't get much hype because there division isn't special as much as the AL East or Central. There division isn't as competitive as Boston and New York. Also, the Phillies don't have a giant fan base. They could suprise someone at the end towardes the playoffs depending on how they do. They could lose there title to Mets or someone else if Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, Cole Hamels or one of them gets hurt. Ryan Howard isn't a big factor but Shane Victorino is starting to hit good. The Nationals have the weakest fan base so that could effect there division.

  8. No, because the Mets are winning the divison. Once the Mets get Wagner, Maine, and Church back and they call up Jon Neise, the Phillies run is over.
