Question:

Are the Pistons still a contender for an NBA championship?

I mean people call the Spurs old, but aren't the Pistons older than them. Rasheed is/was their best player and he is 34 and rarely even goes inside anymore. Plus he is totally inconsistent. I like some of their players like Rip and Chauncey, but it seems like their window is closing fast. Although, they do have Kwame now, so you never know.

  1. they are in the pathetic east, every team in the east is a contender, its pathetic

  2. It seems like recently every year the Pistons are counted out and every year they fail. So a year older the same team and now other Eastern conference teams have improved via draft, free agency, trades. I don't think the Pistons can be considered a contender but if they make the playoffs they shouldn't be discounted because of their championship experience. A lot is riding on how developed the bench is and a lot of pressure on Kwame Brown lol. In all seriousness they  won't be terrible but I doubt they'll be a top 3 team anymore. They have a rookie coach indications are the Pistons are either thinking about rebuilding this year or next year. If they thought they were championship contenders they would've kept Flip Saunders. I think hiring Curry shows that the Pistons have more of an eye towards the future but they won't make any rash moves to back up their desire to change the Roster.

Their window is closing the Pistons have never had a true dynasty but they also have been able to rebuild within a decade or so.

  3. they got kwame bhut that aint gonna do them no good at all team thats gonna win i the lakers for sure and you know it

  4. With their current roster, no. They came up short of the Conference finals last year, and they are another year older so their older players won't be getting better. I think they will make the playoffs and may make a decent run in the east, but their window of championship contention is closed for the moment.

I think Joe Dumars will hold on to his core players if there are no offers from other teams this offseason and he will make a run at the many major free agents next offseason, maybe through sign and trade. They will continue to build around Rodney Stuckey and Jason Maxiell, and the addition of Kwame Brown just might help them a lot in the rebounding department..

  5. they needed to shake things up in the off season and i dont think they are gonna do that, they are still a contender but other teams are gonna start passing them by soon and i def dont see them winning the east next season

  6. yes

  7. Yeah i think they needa switch up da roster a bit...uve been 2 da east conference finals all theese years and cant make it 2 da finals...they tried not 2 get rid of their startin 5 but dat doesent seem 2 be workin. Kwame...??? Idk 2 me its like......lol idk ineva seen somebody turn da ball over so much or miss dunks. Maybe it was cauz Kobe put some pressure on him idk. But I really like their new young player Stuckey...good future.

  8. No they are not too old.  With young players like Maxiell and Stuckey already playing games and scoring well, they already have a future core growing while their older players wind down.  Rasheed could have been one of the best players in the NBA ever, if he could have just stayed focused.  Rip has more time.  Chauncey, may be on his way out if he can't stay injury free this coming season.  With Joe Dumars at the helm, I don't think there will be many years that the Pistons won't have a chance before he puts together a new winning squad.  And I'm not just saying that because I'm from Michigan either :).  Boston will be their biggest problem.

  9. no their done now.they blew it.

i mean on paper their team looks just fine and title worthy. but their team atitude of playing when it counts is bad. theyve never been good enough to do it.

its like they see themselves as above everyone in their conference(weak) so they rest til the playoffs and always try to turn it on and its too late.

i think they see themselves as like a spurs. consistent, but the spurs have almost 5 titles this decade, the pistons have 5 eastern conference champions and 1 title that seems like it was 10 years ago.

    mcdyess is old

    sheed is done

hamilton is an all star but cant take over a game like a superstar

    prince is a good contributor

    bullips is a solid pg

and they have a few young players to come off the bench

but their problem is that they dont have a true superstar,a player to take over a game, they play wellin the regular season, but in close games they dont know who to go to

  10. I think they are done.

Lakers are winning it next year. I can almost guarantee it.

  11. yes

they shouldn't have fired flip saunders.

  12. No, they don't have a superstar.
