  1. Red Sox fans will tell you yes, but everyone else says no.

  2. Forget the Stats, Manny was a very disciplined at the Plate. He drew a lot of walks, and more importantly he intimidated pitchers which made it easier for the guy batting before him. Offensively wise Manny is way better than Jason Bay. Now Defense is a different story.

  3. boston made a big mistake trading manny ramirez but no jason bay will not help boston like manny ramirez did with them

  4. are u nuts

  5. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  6. Bay is more complete with his ability to play defense so i have to say yes.

  7. nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...

  8. Nobody ever got on base for Jason so he probably is going to get more RBI's but his average against lefties is laughable and the pitching in the NL is not as tough as the AL so him hr count will go down, but in the future they will win another pennant.

  9. Yes they r better. People say that Manny this Manny that, but if u look at the numbers. Bay is equal if not better then Manny RIGHT NOW. Bay played in Pittsburgh they had a bad offense. But, now he is going to Boston and they have the second best offense in the AL. Also Manny's offense numbers have been going down since 2005. Example 2005- 45HR 2006- 35HR 2007- 20 HR present 20HR. At best now Manny is going to hit 30 homeruns. Where Bay is just starting to reach his potenial. Already 22 homeruns. Also since he is going to Boston he will have over 100 RBI and over 30 homerun. Manny is going to have to play defence now since he doesn't have the green monster. So that will drain some of his energy running for the balls. So wat u want, but Manny was going after this year. So might as well get someone as good as Bay.

  10. We're definitely better off. Consider the age difference too. We'll have bay for about 5 more years, instead of Manny for just 1 more year. Plus, Bay loves the game and is willing to do anything for the team to win, unlike Manny, who risked sabotaging the team just so he could leave. See how terribly we've been playing since this war with Manny started? A lot of it is because the team chemistry fell apart there.

  11. No cuz Manny's been dogging it all year and Bay is having a better than avg. year.

BUT and this is a huge BUT --  Manny's dogging it and distractions  could not have been good for the morale of the team.

Also, since Drew stepped up with Papi out and Manny protecting him in the line-up, Ortiz will do the same thing.

Geez Louise, I'm confusing myself.   It's a wash.

Alwaysmoose --  They won't miss him in October cuz they won't be playing in October

  12. i think Bay plays better D and he brings a good work ethic which Manny did not.  However they will be missing Manny in October.

  13. It's a downgrade for Boston, but not a big one. Manny is 36, and his 2007 and 2008 seasons have been his worst since 1994. He's clearly declining, and he has also played in 47 fewer games than Bay has since 2006 and has hit 3 fewer HR while making *far* more money. Considering that the Red Sox will have Bay in 2009, and that they were essentially forced to unload Manny, I think this was a pretty good trade. The people I'm hearing in the media have been way too critical of this -- Manny is not a 1.000+ OPS, 40+ HR guy anymore, and he's a clubhouse cancer.

  14. YES!! and here is why.. people don't realize how important it is to have a strong positive club house.  Manny was obviously not happy at all which does have influence on the other guys on the team.  I don't care how talented of a hitter he is, that can only hurt your team.  Take real life examples.  I think everyone has worked with someone that is known as the constant complainer.  They are never happy and always let you know.  It's never fun to be around someone like that and if anything you avoid them with all costs.  In the word of pro sports though, this type of person gets moved fast.  Too much money at stake and too much pressure to compete.  Is Bay as good overall as Manny..no but he is younger and he will come into this fresh and ready to play leaving a dead fan base market like Pittsburgh.  Also Manny is not a spring chicken.  You are getting rid of him at his peak.  I doubt that Manny will last long in the NL because he actually has to play defense now at home too!! He had a luxury playing behind the green monster in Boston.  You can play anyone in left field there!!
