Q1: Are the Roman numbers, like I IV IX, used in Hebrew documents as often as in Europe.

Q2: Are they used for ordinal numbers rather than cardinal numbers?

  1. 1) No, not as often- we prefer the Hebrew numeral system (using the Hebrew alphabet) to the Roman system. The Indo-Arabic numbers (1,2,3…) are used more often than both.

    2) When used, the Roman numbers usually indicate ordinal numbers.

    e.g- הנרי השמיני (Henry the eighth) can be written VIII הנרי.
