Are the Taylormade R7 Irons a bad idea if I don't slice the ball?

I don't really have a slice/face/push problem with irons, are these gonna make me draw/hook/pull or will they just be cheap insurance if I mishit?

  1. Then you can get the R7 irons or the R7 TP's (for >6 handicap).  Generally, Taylormade now makes three models of clubs... draw, neutral (which promotes a slight draw as do all common non-tour quality clubs), and tp's/tour (the face is square to slightly open for more workability.)

  2. I have a 14 HC and I love R7 TP compared to my other sets, Nike CCi, Nike Pro Combo OS, Mizuno Widec II.  I even bought two sets, one set for the US and one set for back home, so I don't have to travel with them (hate waiting for bags at the airport).

  3. I think Kenny meant that the R7 TPs are for <6 HCs (even though I have a WAY higher HC, I use the last model of these clubs...)

I don't think that the R7 Draw will cause a pull hook, but may cause what was a well struck, straight shot on your current club to be a draw.  Likewise, no club can really pull back a wild slice...  Swing mechanics will do this, not the instruments of the game.
