I have heard from many people that the U.S.A. baseball and softball teams are never going to be back in the Olympics. Is there any truth to this?

  1. It's not just our teams, they are scrapping the sport all together.

  2. There is no baseball or softball in the olympics in 2012.  However, with Japan's upset over the US in softball and the Koreans' win in baseball, I think it is possible that it may come back in 2016.  Softball was eliminated from the Olympics partly because the US was DOMINATING it, and baseball was because of Cuba's dominance (the US doesn't bring MLB players).

  3. Baseball and softball were dropped from the 2012 Olympics, but it's unknown whether they'll be back again later.  The 2009 Olympic Congress in Copenhagen will consider what two sports to add to the 2016 Olympics, and both baseball and softball are up for consideration.  People disagree about the real reasons they were dropped, so there's no way of knowing for certain what would have to happen to bring them back.  If baseball and/or softball are added back, the U.S. will probably send teams.
