Well I am not a liberal or anything by any stretch of the imagination.  However I see things differently on this issue.  By lowering the legal age to 18 it will not encourage or discourage either way. If you are going to drink you will, if you are not interested it won't change your mind. What it will do is make it legal for the kids to drink.  If they get caught with booze like so many do they will be held responsible for themselves and not the blame placed on someone else.  They also will have to be held accountable if they get out on the road and kill someone.  They can be tried as adults.  I personally am for this.

Would love to see all states offer drug license, after class is taken and record is clear. That would allow people to buy alcohol at age 18, and if they showed responsibility by never driving or getting totally bombed than Marianna at 21. Not sure if people that age will not abuse alcohol without  much better reason, so find that argument weak, but find right of passage argument much stronger. If your an adult at 18, then you should be treated like one with privileges and steep consequences.
