  1. HE WAS GREAT AND DID SO MUCH FOR CONSERVATIONAS.

ALSO FOR AUSTRALIA A REAL AUSSIE NOT LIKE THE ONES TALKING HIM DOWN...

THESE LINKS SHOULD OPEN UP OTHER LINKS FOR YOU :O)

  2. Looks like most of the above are 'non fans', so I'll stick up for him.

Steve wasn't just a TV persona; a little known fact is that he spent a lot of money buying large tracts of land to retain as wilderness to avoid future development.

He also spent a lot of money on Australia Zoo's wildlife hospital, which was free for use by volunteer wildlife carers, and not just those who were affiliated with the zoo.

Volunteer wildlife carers spend a lot of their own money (as well as their time) on caring for orphaned or rehabilitating injured wildlife. To have free vet care is extremely welcome.

On the couple of occasions I met Steve he came across as a very genuine bloke.

For example, first time I met him, my wife & I had gone to the hospital with an injured flying fox, and whilst we were with the vet Steve burst through the door of the hospital looking for something, and saw the FF. "What's wrong with this little guy?" he said coming over to the table. He then introduced himself to us: "Hi, I'm Steve" he said, as if it was a surprise that we knew who he was. Took great interest in everything and us, and came across as pretty much the same enthusiastic person that you see on TV.

Sure, he made some of us cringe at some of his TV antics, but he sure got messages across and is sorely missed.

  3. Yeah, poor Bindi. That Terri is a loathsome attention seeking maniac.

  4. Of course there are, but why anyone would be a fan of someone who made their name by getting inside wild creatures' comfort zones and pissing them off is anyone's guess.

And you could join the Free Bindi! campaign so the poor kid has a bit of a chance at a normal childhood.

  5. Not me. As an Australian I was always embarrassed by Steve Irwin. He was so atypical yet people overseas saw him as the face of Australia. Also, 'and the rest of the family' isn't much like family any more. It has been widely reported that Steve's father has been treated so badly that he has been forced out of Australia Zoo which he founded when Steve was a child.

  6. not me never liked the    dude

  7. He was great he put his money where his mouth is and bought huge parcels of land in and outside of Australia for conservation.

He showed children the world through his eyes and in doing so probably created many future wildlife warriors.

The world , Australia and the animals lost a great friend when he passed on.

  8. Steve irwin rocks!! he made such an amazing contribution to wildlife, he will never be forgotten.

not sure of any sights sorry but i tune into his shows every now and then on animal planet :-)
