  1. Attachments are on the Yahoo server until you specifically download them. Viewing attachments creates a temporary copy on your computer. You must actually download and save to have a copy to keep. When using the mail web site, attachments are never on your computer until viewed or downloaded.

If you use mail plus and an email program such as Outlook Express then attachments would be in the program file and can optionally be copied to another file.

  2. Yes, if you use a pop program like Outlook or Thunderbird. There is usually a file or folder they are stored in. If you use a web-based email system like Gmail, Yahoo, or Hotmail, they stay on the server until you download them.

  3. Yes. Everything on your computer is stored on your hard drive.

  4. Temporarily, yes, in your cache.  If you want any attachments stored permanently on your hard drive, you'll have to manually save them to the folder of your choosing.
