Are the back of lip rings all metal?

Does anyone have a lip ring without a metal back? I was thinking damage to teeth could happen with metal backs. Do backs come in a soft material that will not damage teeth?

  1. To get it pierced you will have to use surgical steel then they have a plastic ring or barbell that usually comes in clear that you could use.

  2. I have a metal back and have for 2 years and have had no problems with tooth damage...but my piercer also pierced it in the perfect spot where it doesn't ever even touch my teeth.

Supposedly, it's okay to have Bioplast as initial jewelry. It's not plastic, which is bad for the initial jewelry. But those flatbacks aren't metal.
