  1. waves are rough and can pull you down sometimes but still enjoyable to wade in. the waters are calm at night. not huge waveslike you see in hawaii

  2. Yes, as you leave the airport and head to resorts of Cancun, teh waves are very big along this part of the 'seven' of Cancun.  As you turn by the convention center and shopping and other resorts, the water gets much calmer.

Definitely check to see which part of the 'seven' you are staying in, and you will know how the water will be.  Also, check out tripadvisor.com for your resort/hotel reviews and you can post questions to travelers that have stayed at your resort!

  3. What I remember about the sea in Cancun is that you can walk with the water up to your knees for pretty long before you get to the waves and before it gets deeper. I can't swim too well and it wasn't scary to go in.

I live in Los Angeles and the waves seem a lot rougher and bigger there.

  4. I've been to Cancun 5 times. I haven't been to many beaches, so I have nothing to compare the waves to, but they did not seem that large to me. It depends on what part of the beach you are on. Some of them were larger than others, but still not that large. I remember the waves at Laguna Beach in California being larger than the ones in Cancun.
