  1. They said the franchise will probably try and sell this season and I heard some names are Teixiera and Francouer.

  2. Perhaps he isn't still managing to prove something, perhaps he just likes to do it.

The only question is, is Bobby Cox managing a detriment to the Braves.  I would think no, not at the moment.

  3. Only in Atlanta are they underachieving. They are over rated and only due to all those years of "dominance" when their division didnt put up much competition. Without Chipper and Jones, this teams starves for wins. However, as with most teams, especially this season, they lack SP. They do need to get some more offense though if they want to compete next season along with SP. Also with Smoltz on and off DL that doesnt help either. McCann is ok as a C but Francouer needs to be consistent. Jurrjens shows great stuff though at times. Again, they need more.

  4. i don't think they're totally done but they do have to pass three teams to get to the top of that division, and although none of the teams in that division are truly great, it's still going to be a very long road...i think it's time for bobby to go, as you said he has nothing to prove, he has all those division titles and pennants and he did get one world championship

  5. Yes there under acherachieving...

The Braves have been overcome with injury after injury. I understand it's part of the game, but when your three best relievers are out for half or all of the season (Soriano, Gonzales, and Moylan). When three of your best starting pitchers (Glavine, Smoltz, and Hampton) are out, for most of the season. (Also Hudson has had his problems). Also Yunel Escobar and Mark Kotsay. Over half the team has been injury for a drastic amount of time...Now it looks like Chipper and Hudson might be out... Teixeria, McCann, and Jurjeans have been the only consisently solid players on the team. That won't due... Healthy the braves are one of the best teams in the N.L...The problem is that this team has not collectively been healthy for any part of the year...Heck, Hampton got injuried warming up for his first start. Injury after injury has overshadowed this season... This was suppose to be the season where the Braves returned to center stage of the baseball world. The Braves had a combination of good young players, and better veteran. The offense, starting pitching, and relief pitching are all their...There just all injuried...

I don't want to see Bobby retire, but if he does I understand. It looks like Glavine and Smoltz might retire this year. There is a changing of the guard in Atlanta. It might not look good now, but it's a strong franchise, with one of the best farm system, and an even better managment staff. This team will not stay down long.

  6. ....I heard on the radio this afternoon that they're selling everything thats marketable.

  7. I do think they are finished. (I am a Braves fan, by the way.) They should trade Teixeira and get as much as they can for him. Not so sure I'd say they're underachieving, though. They have had a lot of injuries...more than most teams.

As for Bobby Cox, I too wonder how much he has left. In the end, though, I can't see anyone doing a much better job than Bobby.

All in all, the Braves are an interesting team looking to the future. On one hand, they have many old players that you have to wonder how much is left: Chipper, Smoltz, and Hampton being key. On the flip side, they also have a lot of young talent that could be great for years: Yunel, Johnson, McCain, etc.
