I am referring to Asian bakeries found in Asian supermarkets. I am of course not talking about the obviously non-vegan hot dog buns and ham buns... but what about the red bean buns, taro buns etc... are they VEGAN-- meaning NO animal products whatsoever?

  1. Probably not. Probably have eggs. Try asking?

  2. If you are going to authentic bakery they might use lard to make red bean and taro paste. However nowsaday people are following trends of living healthy eating healthier they will use vegetable oil instead of lard. Ask the sales person if they are no sure don't buy. If you are talking about the white(chinese) bun, the skin is make from only flour, water and yeast no animal product. For those brown bread buns may have egg wash on top.
