  1. Actually,  just because something is "alive" doesn't mean it registers pain.  None of your internal organs or tissues register pain.

Fingernails are alot like hair; they both begin as alive cells in the flesh, then when they grow, they're basically dead.  They only dont hurt u when u clip them / cut them, cuz they r dead; they grow only in the flesh, the fingernail itself doesnt gorw, so does the hair. Also fingernails are cartlidge, not skin.

  14. You may have answered your own question - it would hurt if they were still alive.  Anatomically fingernails and toenails are made of a tough protein called keratin.
