  1. It was probably something that was set up by the NFL for the Hall of Fame game that it becomes an extra pre-season game for the two teams involved so that one of the team's doesn't lose any revenue by only having one home pre-season game. The more money the franchises make, the more money trickles down into the entire NFL.

Evidently most of the other NFL franchises didn't seem to have much of a problem with the Colts having an "extra" game so I wouldn't read to much into it.

Personally I think that 4 pre-season games in the NFL can be pushing it at sometimes let alone 5, if you consider that every year key players on teams get banged up. Maybe they aren't always the star players, but sometimes they are still first and second stringers. Maybe they could cut the pre-season down to 3 games so that you can have a healthier regular season competitive balance, but I doubt that will happen.

  2. Its a new rule maybe.

  3. Every year two teams have to  play 5 of them because of the hall of fame game.  This year the Redskins and Colts got stuck with it. The two teams forced to do so rotate through the league.

  4. I somewhat agree with Horseshoe but Indianapolis played in the Hall of Fame game last year versus the Saints.  Two years in a row is not rotating it around throughout the league.

  5. some teams are doing that

it will happen every year i believe

they select teams randomly i think

but i THINK they are starting to do that every year

  6. haha let them, more possible chance of their players getting hurt and bang up
