Are the divides/contradictions between all the religions superficial?

Nope. This is an claim usually posed by the non-religious/non-believers. Ask any practicing participant of any faith if all religions are the same and most will say no.

No, the differences in the teachings of various religions is way more that superficial.  For example, Christianity regards Jesus as the son of God and the only path to heaven, Islam on the other hand, considers Jesus a prophet and Mohamed's teaches as a non guaranteed path to heaven.
