i am curious to see ur opinion on this subject cause i see the last 8-10 years that eastern euros dominate boxing in HW all of a sudden see all kind of excuses like hw is weak now ,they are all bums, americans lost interest in hw(i guess same goes for almsot all sports in the planet since they loose in most of them lately) etc etc!

so i have 4 questions and i would be for once curious to see some justified answers (cause all i see is non sense hate and insults)

1)who did mike tyson did fight in his 30 first fights??who did evander did fight in his first 30 fights??why is frazier and foreman so great(kimbo slice of their time some say)why tyson did not even make it in olympics 1984??why jr jones or evander hollyfield did not win gold in olympics??

2)if joe louis was so great why he lost from the number 12 european boxer of back then??max was not in top 10 but he became pro cause of hitler!

3)if mma is all americans care now why fedor embarass them so bad???

  1. Well in Evanders 12th pro fight he beat Dwight Muhammad Qawi,In his first 30 fights he won the undisputed heavyweight champion ship of the world with a 3rd round Ko of Buster Douglas along the way he picked up wins against Tillis,Thomas,Dokes. He delt Foreman his first loss of his comeback.

Tyson beat Tucker,Thomas,Bone Crusher Smith, Berbick,Tillis He won his first title in less then 30 fights.

As for Louis Im the first guy leading the charge that sais You cant compare those old fighters to the new ones, boxing has come so far since then so Im not going to try and defend Louis.

As For Roy Jones Jr, he did win the gold with an utter domination of the Korean fighter but was ripped off in one of the worst decisions in Olympics history. Even the Korean raised Jones arms after the fight.

Tyson didn't win gold, but he knocked the **** out of a few guys who did, Olympics is amateur boxing and does not really count towards nothing anyway.

You must have just started watching boxing recently. Half the top heavyweights today came from other sports, or where just big guys so they got thrown in the heavyweights division. Europeans have been in the heavyweights for years and years they just could not compete with the other heavyweights until the division became weak.

The most dominating European, Wladimir Klitchko has been knocked out by Ross Purrity, Corrie Sanders and Lamon Brewster...all D level heavyweights.(and that's being generous)  In fact Purrity used to be a football player.

And as for MMA....that just sucks now period.

Fact is this is the most lackluster the heavyweight division has ever been and its ruled by Europeans.

Why don't you see them doing well in the lower weight class's where there is a **** load of talent???

If you think they are great heavyweights then you have not been watching boxing long enough to really understand what people mean when they say the division is weak.

And it hasn't been the last few years people have been saying it sucked, people were saying it was weak while Lewis was dominating, and it was and it continued to get weaker. I have been saying the division has been weak basically since the late 90's and it has gotten weaker with every passing year.

What Im saying is, that back ion the early 90's there were plenty of Europeon heavyweights, none of them did that well because the competition was better.

You can go grab all the statistics you want, If your trying to argue that the heavyweight division is not weak right now then you (like i said) just started watching boxing in the last few years and any true boxing fan can see it.

And the lower weight classes are more talented, absolutly if you dont beleive that then again, you are obviously new to the sport.

As for Calzaghe he outpointed Hopkins, good for Joe, but then he turned down a fight with Pavlik! an all amercian boy because im sure his father knew that he would get hurt. Instead he chose to fight an over the hill Jones Jr.

And if you’re calling that joke of heavyweight Wladimir Klitchko a real champion, then that shows you how weak the division is when a guy who has a glass jaw and no heart can be the division's best fighter. Pretty Horrible.

And lets not forget that Klitchko's success came after he started being trained by American Trainer Emanuel Stewart.

Lets see how Abraham does against Pavlik.

And Sturm? meh, hes average, granted he did probably get ripped off against a fat overweight Oscar DeLaHoya, Sturm has been hit and miss.

And of course there are going to be allot of European fighters with titles, because there are 5 titles in each weight division.

And to your statistics there Brother, Allot of fighters defected from their countries and came to the US to fight. So you stats do not really reflect anything.

Try and make up a pound for pound list and see how many Euro boxers you can justify putting on that list. The Ring has always been a fair publication, I think the only one that makes their list is Calzaghe. The rest are Puertorican or Mexican.

  2. I'm just gonna stick to the main question.

The champions were not overrated. During America's prime, boxing was a heavily promoted sport and was featured during high school gym class and broadcasted on network television. As the years gone by, athletes realized they could make more money in sports where they didn't have to bleed all the time like BASKETBALL! Big men in the US were all going to basketball or football. Kareem abdul jabber himself could have been an outstanding boxer but instead went to the NBA. You will see this similar story with many other current pro athletes. Boxing was later revealed as a dangerous sport especially since Ali, boxing's biggest hero at the time, was suffering from taking too many headshots. Boxing was no longer supported in grade school and wrestling came in. Now, american youth are heavily participating in MMA which is easily supported by wrestling programs in high schools.

For the Europeans, it has to do with a question of social and economical problems. Many great athletes today from those countries come from very hard economic backgrounds so it gives them the hunger to succeed. Not surprisingly, in the United States... blacks dominate many sports. In the US, boxing is falling out of the limelight and many boxing gyms can't even support themselves. Many trainers are forced to come together and compete against each other in crowded gyms. Good trainers find it hard to connect with good fighters and the rest is history.

Olympic dominance has to do with the amount of government support. There are many countries like Russia, China, and Cuba that have a strong emphasis on the olympics because they want to boost national pride. America doesn't have that, so many good boxers in the US skip the olympics and go straight into the pros where they can make money. Many boxers in the US are mexican heritage or somewhere else so they dont see the point of competing in the US, which is training and fighting for free for a country they have no loyalty to.

    1) For the record, mike tyson beat a bunch of nobodies. He smashed some great contenders and wasted a few over the hill guys in great fashion but never proved his greatness. And for that, many boxing experts will continue to say that Ali is better - don't waste your breath arguing with idiots.

    2) Forget about Joe Louis nuthuggers. That's like saying, "America use to make the best cars so now they're still the best carmaker"

    3) MMA isn't all americans. In fact, it's so popular because there are great fighters from all over the world. Enough said.
