First off, I just want to say that any information of any of the stores I listed i appreciated. Here are my questions: Are the contact lens checkups in walmart good and accurate? What about JCPenny, Sam's club, and Costco? How much does the checkup and followup checkup cost before insurance? About how much would it cost in total for everything (contacts for 6 months(one eye with astigmatism, the oth without), checkup, follow up checkup, etc.) at any of these stores if I buy contact from one of these stores? Has anyone fond a good deal for a checkup and contacts? Remember, any inforation of any of these stores if appreciated....and whoever has the best and most info gets 10 points!

  1. The exams should all be similar.  Only licensed Eye Doctors can preform a complete exam and write a prescription.

So you should be able to feel confident with all exams.

The difference is price, and service level.

Is the facility clean? comfortable? Do you feel like you will get the attention you deserve, or do you feel like you are waiting for your drivers license, or similar.

I work for an optical retailer, and yet I still bought my contacts at Costco, because after rebates, the price was the best.

When you have your exam, be sure they give you your prescription, both in a format for eyeglasses, and for contact lenses.  Then you can buy the contacts/eyeglasses there or anywhere else you find.  It also means if you need to order more contacts in six months, you don't need to get another exam.   Often, the doctor will give you a trial pair to wear, so you don't have to wait for the lenses to arrive, but also to make sure they are comfortable.  If this is the first time you are wearing contacts, a good doctor will ask you to come back in a week to make sure the contacts are fitting correctly, and that you aren't having any issues.

If you want approximate contact prices, try 1-800-contacts, or any other online company.  It sounds like you would be looking for one regular contact and one toric.

I hope this helps some, I know you asked about prices, but I don't have that information - sorry.
