Are the fast foods dirty?

why are there people who claim fast foods are dirty and nasty?

is the way they cook the foods unsanitary?

People are ignorant over how these places operate. They "hear" a story real or imbelished and then they add more to it to make it detailed and more graphic......it turns into this untrue tale of how bad these places are when that is NOT the case or general rule/finding.  All restuarants and fast food places must be inspected by health department and they are usually cleaner and more sanitary than regular restaurants.  The food is not cooked poorly.....fast foods are neither dirty or nasty.  Enjoy

cheaply, thats why its fast food, i avoid eating there, but one way to check is the sanitation card, however if they have employees who take a food safety class then it can raise their grade card 2 points per person, so its hard to tell, but one thing i look for is if the drinks are cold, order a soda with no ice, if its warm then dont eat there, they are required to refrigerate their machine and if they are skipping that step then they could be skipping more

Who sees what goes on in any kitchen? Fast Food, expensive restaurants, diners or mom and pop delis. I would think that the food in the fast food industry move quicker than a small store in a suburban town.

fast foods are good if you are on the run but generally speaking you have no idea how the food you eat was handled...if the manager and workers are clean then they will also handle the food in the proper way...i guess once in a while fast food is ok

I used to work at Burger King and they are very unsanitary. Once this guy was carryng the tray of burger patties, he dropped them on the ground and pikced them all back up and served them, and most employees don't wash their hands afterthey use the bathroom.

Being in the restaurant business for over 20 years, I can tell you that there are clean and sanitary fast food restaurants.  On the other hand there are some pretty bad ones also.  As a very general rule corporate chains fast food or not will generally be cleaner, the reason for this is because of the potential for infecting the public.  The end result is that you can find good and bad at any type of restaurant, it comes down to the management and how much they care.

No, I do not think Fast Foods are dirty.  I think there is just a lot of silly talk about things like that in our society because someone starts a rumor and everyone just jumps on the wagon without having analyzed any actual facts.  Most people don't think for themselves anymore, in my opinion.

Most fast food workers are teenagers. When it's closing time, they are more concerned about getting home to talk to their boyfriend or girlfriend than cleaning the dishes right. So most of the food is cooked in pans with stuck on food and grease from the night before. Every place that I worked at also didn't dry their dishes, just stacked them on top of each other wet. Therefore leaving a stink and bacteria in the pans. Yum. If it's a slow restaraunt, the food sometimes gets refrigerated and used again tomorrow..even though it's hours old. Fast paced restaraunts don't have time for rotating stock. So sometimes they just pick the mold spots off of the tortillas. Also, 70% of fast food workers are horrible at washing their hands. When I worked at fast food I constantly saw people just putting gloves over their unclean hands. I think that anyone handling food should have a food handlers card. McDonalds anyone?

Although fast food is definitely not healthy, It is quick and convenient and completely safe. Fast food restaurants, especially those that are large franchises, follow strict sanitary guidelines in the preparation of their food. There are temperatures that must be maintained, hand washing/sanitizing schedules, ect.

I think the problem is that people who work at fast food places don't get paid enough to care about sanitary conditions. For example, I know for a fact that at KFC in southern MO does not wash their dishes with soap. I worked there for a week, and couldn't take it anymore, it was such a disgusting place. I actually was told by the manager that to save time and money, they did not wash dishes with soap, just sprayed them off with hot water. Plus food comes frozen and then sits in warmers all day long, the temperature isn't high enough to keep bacteria from forming. Also, you have some a**holes that will spit and put other bodily fluids and god knows what else in the food. Its true, I've seen it done. I'm not saying all fast food places are like this, but personally, I don't want to find out. I won't take the chance thats part of why I don't eat fast food. There are so many fat, rude people that come to fast food places, and they are mean and treat the workers like they are idiots. Its degrading to work there, so why should you give a rats a** about the conditions. I'm sure some regular sit-down restaraunts can be just as bad. I read reviews and make sure all OSHA compliances are met before I will eat at a restaraunt.
