Are the gold medals in the Beijing Olympic Games made of real gold?

  1. The last Olympic gold medals that were made entirely out of gold were awarded in 1912.

    The gold and silver Olympic medals must be made out of 92.5 percent silver, with the gold medal covered in six grams of gold.

  3. Yes and this year in Beijing the Chinese have added jade in them and it looks very pretty!

  4. I doubt it.  They are probably made of silver and plated with gold.

  5. I just heard they were mostly lead, but I can't find anything backing that up...

    I think they should be 100% real, otherwise, what's the point...

  6. haha yes. they wouldnt give you fake at something as big as the olympics. its also real silver and bronze as well.
