Are the large blackberries found on the roadside in angelsey in northern wales safe to eat?

Im leaving to backpack through northern wales and i see large blackberries everywhere on the roadside, do you think they are safe to eat and do they have any nutritional value??

When we were kids blackberries and raspberries grew wild across the road from Mom & Dad's house. We would collect them and eat them with milk and sugar on them or just plain. I'm sure they are safe to eat, just try and wash them off before eating them.We all turned out find adults.

They should be ok if you wash them first...traffic fumes and all that.  Nutrition wise they will be full of vitamin c.

I used to eat loads of them, but can't anymore because they now give me a bad throat!
