It's been three years and I was told that they are not finished but Mayor Nagan said they are stronger than ever.

  1. Works were on the way so I don't think they can hold up that much if Gustav is what is expected to be!

  2. I heard a man from the Core of Engineers yesterday say that he hopes they will hold, but they aren't going to be complete until 2013. God bless everyone!!!!!!!!!!

  3. some are and some are not...I grew up on the Westbank in Algiers and our levees are earth-driven but can only withstand 9.5' of water. The bad part is the weaker levees may break and flood the Westbank anyway. It is a wait and see thing.

  4. i truly hope so

i hope the storm does not prove to be so devastating as katrina

  5. I heard opposite reports..levee are strong and levees are weak

  6. I just ate an entree of Garlic Chicken and my breath is stronger than ever but it won't hold back Hurricane Gustav either. Get ready to tie up the boat in Idaho.

  7. Nobody knows for sure. The news reports say that the levees were not completely finished with construction and that there are doubts that they will hold against Gustav, if it's as powerful as expected.

  8. The levee's are capable of handling some amount but who's to say what that amount will be and how much Gustav will deliver. I wouldn't depend on anything Nagan says. It's best to get out while you can.
