Are corrections officers and the system in general really as corrupt as it seems they are almost always portrayed in tv shows and movies? (smuggling drugs, turning blind eye to rapes/beatings, bribes, etc)

  1. the majority of state employees working the prison system are drasticly underpaid, overworked, outmanned. bribes i cant say for 100%. but turning a blind eye definatly.

  2. it happens  here and there with the drugs ,blind eye 50 /50 some are by the book .others just want to pick up their pay check and dont give a sh i t.

  3. Actually, it far more reaching than any movie or TV show has ever represented.

Mostly, it is about money.  Mostly, it about how much they can scam from the system and not about inmates.  Although their preoccupation does lend a lot to the "blind eye" scenario.

  4. Prisoners who dont get all the luxuries they demand always seem to think the people running the show are corrupt. Maybe they should go to a Mexican or Columbian jail and see what real corruption is all about
