are the new mercedes and bmw really unstealable?

im not a car theft.. i just wanna know if people are buying these expensive cars, how good the security is on those cars. I'd expect cars like Mercedes S class already come with lo-jack and virbating key alarm and more as standard?

  1. Unless the criminal flat-beds the thing away through excessive force, then yes, the car is incredibly hard (though not impossible) to steal.

  2. Unstealable...anything can be stolen.  You just have to steal the key before you even think about the car.

  3. You can not start the engine unless you have the right key - however  the better we get - the better they get

  4. It's possible to winch one onto a flatbed, but the theft alarm system makes that approach a bit sketchy. There are anti-theft sensors under the hood and the battery cables are not accessible from the bottom of the vehcle.

The most common way it happens (without waking up the neighbors) is by getting a key through a fraudulent purchase at the dealer, or to buy a key and the owners address from a porter or carwash employee at a delership.

It's a lot easier to flatbed a Honda or Toyota, and there's more demand for the parts.

  5. Um, basicaly. I guess it can be stolen, but by the time the person gets the car on, the owner would be in the car with them.

  6. Nothing is impossible but yes, new Benz vehicles with the FBS3 system ( electronic keys ) are very difficult to steal.  Many thieves have resorted to breaking into the homes to steal the key because it is easier than starting the car without the electronic key.

  7. chop shops have gone mobile, a tractor trailer can drop ramps and winch load any car in seconds, the car is then cut up for parts en-route by a trained crew. next is a quick stop to crush the hulk and the s.o.b.'s are home free.

note leaving a hidden cell phone with g.p.s. capabilities  hard wired in to a cars power feed [will still work after car battery disconnected] may be your last best bet for recovery and prosecution

[note in the few seconds it takes to winch up, the alarm wont matter as it won't even be heared or be able to be pinpointed outside the trailer.if someone actually does hear it]
