I've noticed lately a trend to return to the popular names of the 70s-80s.

names like:

Jennifer

Jessica

Kimberly

Amy

Michelle

Elizabeth

Stephanie

Lisa

Julie

Lauren

etc.

i personally hate my name (Jennifer) and would hate for yet another generation to be cursed w/it. lol but i kinda like seeing familiar names among the crazy ones lately!

  3. Oh..that's too bad you hate your name...I love your name. I think there are a lot of young Jessica's and Lauren's lately. I do like many of the names on you list like your name, Jessica, Amy, Michelle, Lisa, and Julie and I like them much better than the common names lately. Although I love the name Emily.

  4. My daughters are  Paige, which was #69 in 2002 and Mackenzie, which was #53 in 2006. My son is due next month. Last year the names that we like ranked at, Nicholas #20 and Thomas # 51.

  5. I like my name, Julie :) I don't really know or hear that many people named Julie, but other names like Ashley, Lauren, Jessica, etc.. I hear all the time. I think people now just name kids whatever. Like when people name there kids apple !? Were they looking around their kitchen at the time?...

  6. Actually the names of children I see at the park are more from the 1870's and before, not the 1970's. Names like Aaron, Ezra, Wesley, Maxwell, Naomi, Hannah, etc

  7. Mommies tend to name babies after

    best friends,

    special Aunts,

    Grandma's

    favorite book characters.

Is it any wonder we see names in progressive generations?

  8. Ah, but you forget! People nowadays are putting a different kick on them, by adding a different letter or stressing a different sound. Like instead of Jennifer, they would put Jeniphar. Stupid c**p like that. I think its utterly ridiculous that parents think they are creating a 'unique' or 'original' name just by changing a letter...

  9. I hope they arent. Im tired of all those names too. I dont mind the name Elizabeth though. I've always liked that for whatever reason. Julie is fine with me too, but the rest of them I've heard wayyyyy too many times in my life and know way too many girls with those names.

  10. i think parents are looking for more unique names these days. or at least taking a popular one and spelling it in a unique way. it also depends in the nationality of the parents. i personally don't like the old popular names. i want my daughter to be the only one with her name in her classroom or group of friends. she would stand out more!

  11. Yes I do believe the good old names are on their way back

    xx

  12. I was born 1981 and my name is Stephanie.. But i seen alot of girls with the name Lauren Amy Juloe Jessica Jennifer and actullay all the names still alot of years..

  13. I don't think these names ever really lost their popularity - at leats not Jessica, and Jennifer.  When my twins were born throughout their stay at the NICU we saw four babies named Jessica.

  14. I don't think any of them ever really disappeared--they were just displaced from the Top 10 or Top 20 by other names (the Ashleys and Brittanys, then the Kaylas, Madisons, Olivias, etc.).
