Are the over-the-stove microwave/range combo effective?

are they reliable? does the range hood under the microwave really work well or not? I find it hard to believe, my regular one doesn't even do a good job?

I installed one about 6 months ago and it was a tuff job. However I saved a lot of counter space and it made the kitchen look modern.  The hood vent actually works very well and has a lot of power.  The only downfall I found is the little lights under the microwave keep blowing out.  I think that is from all the steem.
