  1. Canada is a free country.  There isn't much to tie her to the English Empire any more. The Queen's image still is on some of the money, but I don't see much else.

  2. Are you serious? I am Canadian and I didn't even knew we were part of the British Empire!

Nice to learn something. Thank you.

  3. The British Empire? What century are you living in? ROFL

Canada is an independent State with the Queen as a figurehead Head of State. They are a member of the Commonwealth but the British Empire no longer exists.

  4. The Empire is over.  The last great Hooray was just after WWII in the same year the first [white] person climb Everest.  Since the collapse there is only the Commonwealth which Im sure theyre happy to be a part of since it does give their economy a bit more stability and helps increase their power on the world stage.

  5. The British Empire is no more and has been no more for quite some time. Canada is part of the Commonwealth

  6. Perhaps if you're a Mac Kay living in Nova Scotia.

  7. I'm a Canadian. We are quite happy being part of the Commonwealth. People like to dismiss the Queen as a relic, but I noticed that on her Jubilee Tour of Canada she consistently ran late - she hates to be late, the Queen is very respectful of other people's time - because the crowds who came out to see her were so large.

It doesn't hurt us or hold us back to be part of the Commonwealth. I'm sure she's happy to be our Queen. At the moment we're rolling in dough, that's to oil and gold prices.
