If you mean photos that people link to, then theoretically no, they aren't scanned. But, if you aren't downloading anything, you should technically be safe. Read the link before you click it, for instance links to photobucket and such should be fine, but obscure sites you might want to stay away from.

YOU do not have to download anything to pick up a virus/worm/logger etc.  If it were that simple no one would ever have computer problems.

When you click on a link and that takes you to a site that does have a virus they can drop a bug on your computer all by theirselves thus they may download to an UNPROTECTED computer, yours.

Many people have talked of crashed computers after SIMPLY clicking on a link that has been posted here.
