Are the police allowed to enter property if doors are left open?

  1. Yes.If the officers say they could see evidence of a crime.I seen them just walk in on people because the door was unlocked.It depends on the laws in the state you live in.Each state has their own laws on this subject.

It depends on what type of property you are talking about.  If the cops approach an open door, they can look inside.  If they see evidence of a crime, they can effectuate an arrest and secure the scene to prevent the destruction of evidence.  If they have exigent circumstances, they can enter the residence without a warrant.  As for other property, if it is abandoned, they can enter.  Remember that only a person who has a privacy interest in the building that is searched can complain of an unreasonable search.  And of course police can enter property that a normal citizen can  enter, like a store.
