Are the protests against the Olympic flame not hypocritical to some extent?

Instead of politizing a sporting event. Why does who evers orchestrating them not protest every container of goods coming in from China instead. This could happen all the time every day, and be an attack on their commerce.

  1. The reason they are protesting the torch is sheerly for publicity. Like you said though, it would be more of a feasible protest on the shipments from China.

I love what the other guy said, "Boycott the Olympics". In all honesty, what do you actually expect a boycott of several thousand people to the Olympic games to achieve? You give up your seat, someone will gladly fill it. Even if, everyone worldwide decided that they were not going to the Olympics, you think China would change there ways? Thats a moronic ideology if I've ever hear one.

Why should people with tremendous sporting ability be punished by not having a crowd and country behind them as they try and represent there nation at the greatest stage of them all?

Most of you protesters have such a one-sided and shaded view of things it actually amazes me every time I hear it on the news.

  2. How many of those protesting both here and abroad actually have goods made in China at home and work???

The West is now so reliant on cheap Chinese imports its economy cannot survive without them. No amount of protesting is going to change that fact of life.

Whilstever China has a market for its goods the situation in Tibet will remain as it is. The Chinese Government doesn't give a rats @rse about a few protesters whilst the money's still rolling in.

  3. Its the same as the people who drive their CARS to oil protests. LOL people inevitably are hypocritical.

  4. If China was not using the Olympics as a political tool you would be right but since they are I do not think it's hypocritical.

  5. Don't give them ideas

  6. Those would be illegal protests

  7. Protesting happens where it will generate the most media coverage, what's so difficult to understand? It's not hypocritical it's focused.

    Free Tibet! Boycott the Olympics!

  8. The olympics are high profile so protesting their trade wouldn't get as much publicity. The olympic prostests have b show that many people in many countries oppose what China does. They've been peaceful protests for the majority of the time (France was rather different predictably). What better oppertunity to protest about a country than when well-know members of that country are there to directly protest to?

  9. They should have given the '08 olympics to Cincinnati.  We wouldn't have this mess.

  10. I find it amazing that they should be so interested in the fortunes of TIBET, of all places. Surely that's China and Tibet's business?

My house is full of chinese goods, all of it bought at very good  prices.

And I'll be watching the olympics on a 54 inch plasma TV, made in China.  Fair play to them I say!!
