Are the rate of hard drive failures high?

  1. No, but occassionally you can get a batch of bad ones as we often see if it happens when we get so many machines at work.

    Also, if they get too hot this reduces the life considerably, if you have several in your PC try to keep a reasonable space between them and adequate cooling.


  2. I wouldn't say High...but they do fail....

    All hard drives crash eventually....It's up to you to keep them in the best shape  that you can..

    Defragment them...do a chkdsk to fix errors and so forth

    The rate of a failing HDD are extremely low.
