Right now the Rays are the second best team in the AL and probably better than any senior circuit franchise, so yes they are for real.

As the final two months of the season commence, it is interesting to observe how the Rays have been winning. Although the talented young bats of Crawford, Upton, and Longoria have helped put runs on the board, I would argue that pitching is the Rays greatest asset.

The three headed monster of Shields, Kazmir, and Garza has been phenomenal and there is no reason to suspect that this great young pitching trio will falter down the stretch. The ability to rely on three great pitchers in a playoff series is a tremendous blessing, which is why I think the Rays are inferior only to the best pitching staff in Major League Baseball, that being the future WS chapmion Los Angeles Angels.

I think that if the Rays can make another move for a big hitter, then they have a definite shot @ winning the ALCS.

Today, they'll beat the Indians for sure.

Are the Rays for real?  Well, before tha all star break they had a losing streak and everyone predicted their demise.  Now they have the second best record in MLB and lead the division by 3.  I guess what I'm saying is, yes they are for real.

I think the Rays can win the division although New York and Boston will not give it up easily.  As far as the playoffs, I think the Rays can win a series, but the Angels are clearly the team to beat in the AL.
