Are the signal cords the same as IDE cords for a computer?

Or are they the little connecting cords from the drive to the motherboard...Im not sure.

I've drawn a sketch of the inside of my computer and I have to point out the signal cords for the HDD, Floppy Drive and CD ROM.

  1. I dont think that signal cords are the IDE cords.I did a little search in google and found that signal cables are the cables such as the cable from motherboard to monitor.IDE cables are basically data cables.they transfer data.


  2. IDE cables are the wide, flat, often gray or black cables that go from the motherboard to the hard drives, CD-rom drives, and floppy drives.

    I'm not sure what you mean by "signal cord" but the only other cables that you would normally see connecting with a hard drive are either power cables coming from the power supply (http://www.pacificgeek.com/productimages... which provides power to the drives, or Serial-ATA (SATA) cables (http://www.endpcnoise.com/e/images/sata_... which act the same way as IDE cables do, by delivering information (though SATA are faster and smaller than IDE).
