Are the skates used in air gear anime for real?

The skates used in AIR GEAR is not real. Then again, the concept and designs are not too far off in terms of there actually being such a thing. There is a patent on such skate with motor build in, but the actual skate was never made into production because of the cost. In the near future, when someone decides to take this patent and push it into an actual concept then, there is a glimpse of hope that you will be riding a AT at speeds of at least 20MPH with the controls either at your feet or hand. For now, the skates used in AIR GEAR in reality is already in the steps of design, concept and patent. Its just waiting for someone to take this designs and push it for full production. Funny Thing, this skate was patent in 1998...How cool is that...I am waiting for it to happen.

P.S. Even if someone did make it happen...You can not go up walls or go with the wind with your AT.
