sc, when it comes to evolution, there is no concrete evidence to it ever happening either.

  1. Skeptics are useful & insightfull, when they have constructive critisim.

It goes the same way with the believers as well.

There is always two sides to the coin.  I personally have enjoyed some of the more intellegent skeptics.

  2. You'll find that's generally true.  Honestly, believers by definition are not open minded, their minds are already made up...

I'm an atheist, and have been  for years, but if I found compelling evidence of the existance of a god, I would change my mind.

  3. I'm a skeptic, but that certainly doesn't mean I'm not open minded.  I look into all the possibilities - and it turns out that there was always a perfectly rational one.  It seems to me that the people who immediately assume it must be paranormal aren't looking for anyone to tell them otherwise, and will call a priest before they call an electrician.

I'm definitely open to being wrong - h**l, I'm a scientist!  I'd love to be wrong.  Please, show me how to violate the laws of physics - it's the only chance I have of wining the Nobel Prize.  You don't get published in science by confirming what we already know - you get published by finding something new that doesn't fit.

EDIT:  Actually, there are billions of pieces of evidence for evolution.  Genetics, the fossil record, retro-viruses ... the list goes on and on.  If you truly are open-minded, you'll have no trouble going to this site and reading about how you might be wrong.  http://www.talkorigins.org   :)

  4. I don't know who is more open minded, but

I think it is just pitiful that people have to put blocks up just to be able to protect themselves and preserve their right to answer questions without getting reported and violated by people who would squelch an opposite point of view!

    What is wrong with people?

  5. Each individual is unique, skeptic and non--so overgeneralizations serve no purpose.

  6. I am a believer, but not by faith, but by experiences. I am extremely narrow-minded, not afraid to admit it. I think the skeptics just wanna prove us wrong like Christians try to brainwash us into believing Jesus.

  7. The nature of skepticism is open-mindedness.  So naturally skeptics question most things, while beleivers accept on faith, which by definition implies they are not open to examining new ideas that differ from their beliefs.  For example, on the subject of evolution they will go on a rant, even though personally they can't site a single piece of evidence pro or con.

  8. nuff..I have no idea if I'm on this "closed minded" list or not!! Please let me know if I am. (Maybe my other "Gemini twin" is "acting up" again! ) (Hey..I wonder if my "twin" could be a guy!! That would explain it!!) lol

edit..the believers you said were" throwing up block"..or seem to be.

  9. No.

  10. So 99% similar DNA to Chimps is not evidence that chimps and humans could have had a common ancestor?  Interesting.

So fossils that show animals that are different but similar to modern animals are not evidence toward evolution?  Interesting.

Fruit flies being raised and infected with a disease, some dying off and some living, then evolving into a population with immunity to that disease is not evidence towards evolution?  Interesting.

There is skepticism and then there is being blind to evidence by ignoring evidence and its implications.
