  1. This is all I could find for the surname "Gilroy",

    Gilroy Name Meaning and History

    Irish: reduced Anglicized form of Gaelic Mac Giolla Ruaidh ‘son of the red-haired lad’, from ruadh ‘red’. Compare McElroy.

    I couldn't find anything for the name "Gilruth", I checked all surname origin sites that I have available to me and the Oxford  Names Companion, there 's nothing in there either.
