Are the transmission & Catalytic converter related in any way?

If one is not working well can it affect the other?

  2. No the transmission is part of the drive train and the catalytic converter is part of the exhaust.

  4. you have to specific what working well means.  But no the relation isn't possible.  

  5. No,,,, but a clogged cat will affect the running of the motor and the vacuum for the modulator from the tranny if bad will suck tranny fluid thru and burn the fluid causing a tranny fluid loss not to mention alot of smoke.........

  6. They aren't related directly, but a faulty catalytic converter may cause the engine to overheat. The transmission has cooling lines connected

    to the radiator, hence overheating may effect the transmission.

    If the engine malfunctions, the transmission won't shift properly either.

  7. the cat is part of your exhaust system...the tranny is part of your drive-train...If either one is defective then your whole car is effected. They can effect each other indirectly.
