  1. I've seen plenty of women do it, they struggle a bit if they don't have help from other commuters

  2. no, most tube stations are not at all pram-friendly ... usually access is via stairs and escalators, and you're supposed to fold buggies on escalators ... when it came to the stairs when my children were young I used to look very pathetic and try to enlist the help of some strong young man to help me up and down the stairs with the buggy ... with two young children you really need another adult with you to help if you're wanting to use the underground

maybe you'd be better using buses instead ... many of buses these days in London are able to take a buggy without folding it and there's not the difficulty about stairs/escalators ... sometimes if the bus is quite full, or if there are already a couple of buggies on board, the driver will tell you that you cannot get on unless you're willing to fold the buggy up, in which case you'd probably need to wait for the next bus ... and don't even think about trying to travel at rush hour ... if you're not sure which buses you would need to do your journey, go to the Transport for London website www.tfl.gov.uk and use the journey planner ... you would need to click on "advanced options" underneath the boxes, then scroll to the bottom of the next page and find the section where it tells you to deselect the transport modes you don't want to use so that you leave only the bus option with a tick mark in it, then enter your destinations at the top of the page
