the brands are all the same, but maybe what's better is the service or the warranty for that unit.  Check those items out.

Most of them are made by only two or three companies. The biggest difference is the price from one store or another. Look for one that is big enough for your family, and has about a 10 year warranty. If you can afford a water softener it is worth the cost!
