  1. Either the Bell or the Escort are the best, a little expensive but worth the extra cost.

I found this review for your radar detector.

I purchased this radar detector and after one week it malfunctioned. When it was turned on, it would automatically start going off with the laser alert no matter where you were, and you could not mute it and it would not stop alerting until you turned it off. I took it back and got a refund. I do not recommend this detector at all. When it was working for the first week, the sensitivity was not all that great. The police were already in sight by the time it alerted, so they probably already had your speed-clocked anyways

  2. Well, in Canada, if you are caught with anything like that, bend over an kiss your a-s goodbye.

  3. As an alternative to buying a cheap radar detector, I would seriously consider just never driving fast.

The cheaper the radar detector, the fewer features it has, the fewer radar bands it detects, the less likely it is to detect those bands, the more often you will receive false alerts, and the more visible it is to police radar detector detectors (RDD). If you use a cheap radar detector, you are likely to 1. not receive an alarm when you should, 2. receive false alarms when you shouldn't, and 3. receive a ticket and have the device confiscated.

If you live in Canada, there is only one radar detector for you: the Beltronics STi Driver (or STi Remote), the only radar detector that is 100% invisible to RDD. However, it is certainly not 'cheap'.
