I think so because as far as popularity goes it seems that the yankees and cubs are the two popular teams even though the yankees have genrally been better statistically and the cubs have not been as good, but also the mets are less popular and arent payed as much attention to as are the white sox.

  1. There seem to be some similarities.

I am going to disagree with Fozzy's overgeneralization of White Sox fans. What he wrote is no more an exageration that a White Sox "fan" saying that all Cubs fans are posers and go to games to get drunk and tan and are only remotely interested in what their team is actually doing on the field.

Just like the Yankees and the Mets, both Chicago teams have passionate, knowlegable fans. Fans of both teams enjoy it when their side whomps the other during the Cross Town Classic. Fans of both teams enjoy it little more when their team is doing well and the other side is suffereing. And, fans of both teams complain about media bias this or that when their team is not getting what is percieved to be their fair share of media coverage or respect.

Cubs fans like to stir the pot and rile up White Sox fans (just like Fozzy does) just as much as White Sox fans like to try goof on Cubs fans.  It works both ways, and pretending that all Cubs fans are saints who are immune to such mundane things is silly.

  2. They both also play baseball... crazy! It seems as though the similarities never end!

  3. Yes. Both are over rated and pains me to say, being IM a Met fan. Though I punish myself for being one.

Not enough talk about Mets? There is much talk on ESPN, the media, of their ups and downs all the time, as well as The White Sox, mostly due in part to the arrogant Ozzie.

  4. I agree with you.  The only reason the yankees are popular is because they have a lot of money and they can spend it on players.  On the ohter hand, the cubs always were better than the sox.  I think the mets deserve more credit

  5. The only difference is that fans of the Mets actually worry about their team, rather then complaining about the fact that another team gets more media attention. And Mets fans are also smart enough to realize that, while they certainly want to beat the Yankees in those 6 games, that their true rivals are not the Yankees, but the Phillies, the Braves, the rest of the NL East and the rest of the NL.

White Sox fans, on the other hand, tend to be more obsessive in their hatred of the Cubs. They complain that the media is biased against their team, they complain about the Cubs outdrawing the Sox, and they would seem to be happier beating the Cubs 4 games out of 6 then they would be if they beat the Twins 4 of 6.

In short - the Mets fans seem to have come to accept the fact that NY is big enough to support 2 teams without having to resort to creating a false sense of a rivalry, and certainly without building a ridiculous hatred towards the other team. Sox fans, however, seem to live off of that hatred.

  6. Yeah, don't listen to Fozzy...he has no clue what he's talking about on this subject.  In fact, I'd say the Cubs fans on Yahoo answers are far more obsessed with the White Sox than the other way around.

Cubs fans who think White Sox fans are obsessed with their team are just trying to flatter themselves in the true Cubbie way(i.e. being completely pompous and arrogant).  Get over it guys...Sox fans are far more concerned with the AL Central race.
