  1. In fact there are eleven, altogether, if you check this out you will find that the geographical north pole is the one most people recognise, along with the magnetic north, but there are others which are used as the basis for cartographers, astronomers and navigation celestially, the pole of rotation, etc, these were all,  mentioned in an episode of QI by Stephen Fry, while a member of the British antarctic expedition "just happened" to be in the audience, on enquiring as to whether, he had visited them all, his reply was that he had actually  visited ten of the eleven, mentioned....( just so you know ), you will have to do some research yourself, I think....but the  five mentioned places, above, in the previouis answer,  ( excluding the towns/villages, in question , is a good starting point)

  2. There is also the village in Alaska officially named "North Pole" and another in Canada that claims the name.  There may be fifth in Scandanavia...

  3. A secondary magnetic pole, is the north geomagnetic pole, totally different from the true magnetic north pole which lies somewhere in Canada – opposing to general belief which states that the magnetic north pole lies in the geographic north pole. The north geomagnetic pole is a remnant of the variable magnetic fields of our planet, is much weaker than the magnetic north pole and is located in Greenland, fact which led to numerous confusions in the past.

  4. theres only 1, what book are you reading?

  5. 1. Geographic North Pole where longitudes converges

    2. Instanaeous North Pole where rotational axis meets the surface, not a fixed point due to Chandler's Wobble

2a. North Pole of Balance - the center most point within Chandler's Wobble

    3. Magnetic North Pole - where magnetic field is vertical

    4. Geomagnetic North pole - an outdated system so nix this one

    5. City of North Pole, Alaska

    6. Hamlet of North Pole, New York

  6. I only know of three:

    1. Geographic Pole

    2. Magnetic Pole

    3. Pole of inaccessibility
