  1. No and they are none for XP or any other OS. now u can buy a signal finder which will give you a stronger reading when pointed in the direction of the signal. THey are hand held and have bars to register the signal strength. Thanks

  2. There are programs that will give you signal strength readings and graphs/chart of the the incoming signals.Net stumbler is the free one I use.Antennas that can turn 360 degrees will help you to direction find the signals you are looking for and to narrow or null out the signals you don't want. For this I use the the do-it-yourself built primestar dish antenna that consist of a large grape juice type can mounted on the arm of the dish instead of the normal LNB used for satellite. The dish is mounted to a standard TV antenna rotor to make it movable Do a little research and google some of these builds done with simple tools.I have had this setup in for use for over a year with great results.

I use windows XP but dont see as why there would be any issues with no matter what operating system you have. The question of finding the distance that the transmitting station is from you is a little harder to work with and answer but, with direction finding experience and measuring different signal levels over time you may be able to figure it out . In the amateur radio hobby we call it fox hunting and the fun is all in finding the fox/transmitter.

  3. you're asking the wrong question.

Your standard computer hardware is not designed for this.

No software installed on your system will facilitate this.

That said, you can do it an amateur way. If your wireless card has a utility that displays signal/radio strengths etc, and you can move the computer, you may get a general location by moving it around.
