I'm going on a trip to France this summer, and I've been told a lot of times that it is important to blend in. Is there a certain clothing style that girls in southern France and Paris are wearing as everyday clothing? Is it the same as a certain american style?

  2. They wear jeans and tops just like American girls but always have a bit more individuality and class than most Americans (teenage girls don't yet wear Hermes scarves and leopard prints) .  If you live in a bigger US city, you can pick up a French version of Marie Claire or another fashion magazine to see their styles.

I wouldn't take crocs, uggs, flip-flops, cut-offs, or anything trashy. Birkies are worn, but you are in Paris! Get some real shoes while you are here!

You will blend in the metropolis of Paris just fine since tourists from all over the word have for centuries.

....a certain American style isn't descriptive enough for me. I hope it isn't belly showing low, low cut jeans.

  3. Hi !

That's an interesting question, I am from Paris and when I arrive in NY I was so surprised by the type of clothing some people were ok to wear on the street !

    Hehe !

For exemple, it's right that we try to look good, we don't wear workout cloths all day long ! No way ! hehe . We try to match our cloths and wear nice shoes to go with, not a lot of sneekers, but teenages do, so don't worry for that point :)

The flip flops are not well seen ! Guys say they don't like them on girls !

That's more from Paris, after, in the South people are more tolerant and can wear whatever they feel !

Just see what the people around you are wearing and adapt you !

  4. I don't think it really matters. I have family in Provence and I can tell you that in my opinion, the american way of clothing is a hundred times better. The style is kind of different, but my sisters, my brothers and I have always went there wearing our normal clothes and we didn't look like tourists. If something you will just look better. In southern France teenage girls don't have a definite style, and in Paris every person is so different that you can't really say one item is popular. So I hope you have a nice trip and sorry for my English!

  6. The french don't wear shorts much and I've found they don't really wear sneakers but instead both guys and girls tend more towards tennis shoes (i.e. not shoes you would run in but the more casual puma type tennies). Also I don't really see girls in things that don't flatter there figure or masculine type clothes (i.e. no uggs and no hoodies or oversized sweatshirts).

Of course more likely to make you stand out as an American would be your actions. Things like being loud and obnoxious when you're out in public or at a bar are a common giveaway.

    Enjoy your summer!
