  1. It is possible, animals that are killed off, for the safety of humans, such as wolves, some of the wolves know their lives are in danger. These wolves will seek areas where man is not. I,ve been to areas where they say there are no cougars, wolves, and have seen them myself, I have also seen a wolverine in a area where none were known to exist.It is possible. They were there before, it only takes the right two to mate if they are there.

No.  Historically gray wolves covered nearly all of north america, but currently their range in the U.S. (according to official reports) is restricted to Alaska and areas in the west like Montana and Wyoming.  However, there have been anecdotal sightings of wolves in places like Maine.  Their abundance in Canada and the fact that people have been breeding wolf-dog hybrids means their actual range in the U.S. is likely wider.
