Are ther any awsome homecoming themes?

every fall at our highschool we have a homecomign parade. and every class needs a theme for a float and to decorate a section of the school. so far our class has picked horrible themes and we need to pick it up this year. we really need an awsome theme so we dont loose to the freshman

My favorite was when our homecoming fell on the weekend just prior to Halloween... we went with "'82 will Spook You" and such.  I designed and built a 3 story (25ft tall) haunted house on top of a flat-bed truck.  We had stairs extending from the truck bed and a coven of witches stirring a potion-pot (filled with special effects) on the back 8 ft of the truck.  We also had a number of cheerleaders walking alongside in costumes carrying lit pumpkins.

The KEY thing to MY mind is to think of WHAT construction techniques and materials are available to you, AND to tap the minds of those in the the theater department... BEFORE you pick a theme.  Those folks are very often MUCH more versed in this than cheerleaders and football players.

I've also designed floats based on an MTV theme (a GIANT boom-box with a sound system), a 1920's speak-easy, and a fairy-tale castle.
