When I am out of college in 5 years, I want to move to Kathmandu, Nepal. The only thing I am "iffy" about is the health-care. It may be rich in culture, BUT it is one of the poorest countries. I dont want to have to be evacuated to Calcutta or Bangkok. So, even if its really expensive, Are there ANY decent, or wetserrn style hospitals in Nepal?

  1. You are right that the health care facility is poor in Nepal but it does not mean that there are no hospitals for health care. business motive new hospitals are available in Kathmandu which has decrease the visits to Calcutta or Bangkok. The time has changed but you may not find exactly like western modern hospitals in Nepal. Some are specific to certain specialization. Here are few good hospitals.

    Norvic International Hospital (http://www.norvichospital.com/)

National Institute of Neurological and Allied Sciences (Neuro science specialised) http://www.neuro.org.np/about.htm

OM hospital and research center http://www.omhospitalnepal.com/about.htm...

    Everest Nursing home http://everestnursinghome.com/facilities...

I think there are many similar nursing homes and clinics. Hence, you may explore to the service you are looking for. Certainly you will find doctors and facilities when you want to pay for.

  2. Nepal is poor country having rich people... rich in terms of heart, health and education. Kathmandu Model Hospital, Teaching Hospital, Everest Hospital, B & B Hospital, Norvic Hospital, Om Hospital, HAMS Hospital, Tilganga Eye Hospital, Bhaktapur TB Hospital, Bharatpur Cancer Hospital, BP Koirala Memorial Hospital in Dharan, Manipal Hospital in Pokhara, etc and many more all for your service....
