Are there American Organizations helping Americans?

I am unemployeed and would like to work with groups and organizations that help AMERICANS.

I am bone tired of going to groups like RED CROSS as well as

others that always tell me I must have a degree in order to get ANY position-UNLESS I only volunteer.

We have so many AMERICANS in need because of poverty, disasters or other reasons I cannot understand why we send so much money to other countries and don't help our own.

I have repeatedly tried to find groups and organizations that ONLY or even PRIMARILY work to help AMERICANS first with

little success.

I have 16 years warehousing experiece, also public relations experience, and management experience(small scale),plus experience in direct lobbying of politicians because of my

volunteer position as the Board VP of a local non-profit community deveopment corporation,as well as other experience but no degree.Any help connecting with such groups welcome.I live in Ma but willing to travel.

  1. Nope, there are only Canadian organizations that help Americans.

  2. Look at the the fraternal organizations.

Sorry they don't pay, but they are the backbone of society. In recent years they have been ignored and church's are seen in this capacity, but they are still out there helping people out.

These groups include the shriners, eagles, moose, elks, masons and others

The reasons are many but I feel people tend to look down on them because they are tied in with a drinking alcohol, and are almost always by invite only.

However look at the good they do; hold charity events, cook thanksgiving dinner for elderly/shut ins. help disadvantaged children with schooling and living. ohh the list goes on forever.  Fraternities are benevolent
