  1. Gosh yes - of course.

  2. not to many maybe that is why we, are having so many of are Africa friends moving in

  3. Yes, Loads!!!  A lot in Donegal (especially LetterKenny) but not as much as Dublin.

Some people would even say there is more Asians, Muslims, Indians, polish etc. in Ireland than Irish people!

  4. What do you expect? of course.

in Britain, they make up about..um...6% of the population.

You can't just avoid or dislike people by their races, I wouldn't say Britain is the best place for immigrants. They're really racist, I'm sorry to say this and I live in Ireland.

  5. Yep, and we need some more. They're making Ireland a more interesting vibrant place to live. But even then, they're only a small section of the population - less than 0.5% I think. They just are more easily identified than many  other migrants.

Its horrible the way some people treat them, even though for hundreds of years we have made our homes all over the world.

    Up the immigrants!!!

Not forgetting of course the many who have lived here for generations and have as much a claim to Irish identity as anyone else here.

  6. Yes, there are, and some have actually been in the Irish government.

To correct one statement, some Indians, but probably a very small minority, are actually Muslim.  The separation of Pakistan from India was caused in large measure because of the religious divide, but there are still Indian Muslims.

  7. Everything is relative. Ireland is experiencing real immigration for the first time in a long time. But if you've lived in a large US city (or London or Paris etc...), Ireland will still feel predominantly white European.

The largest immigrant group at the moment is Polish. I think the other groups are so small as to be almost unnoticeable, even in Dublin. And racism is unfortunately pretty prevalent.

  8. oh my gosh why sadly yes ooops yes there are.

  9. Donegal's immigrants are mainly from eastern european countries (Poland, Lithuania and Lativa) or southern America (brazil etc). in parts of dublin there is a huge amount of muslims. around Lucan, and then move in towards city centre. I know a few that live there, there is a mosque in Dublin so they tend to live within a distance of it. there is asians everywhere, mainly chinese, you can see them at college, most of the ones I know are either in the medical field or are studying something to do with computers. I've never seen an Indian man/woman in Ireland. then again they don't wear signs around their head saying where they are from. I mean I don't know any so I don't know.

  10. Yes, there are people from all over the world living in Ireland, making a hugh contribution to Irish life,  and starting familys here. A far back as I can remember (35 years) there's been a significant Chinese population in Ireland. In schools, you'll see children of all different backgrounds happily learning together, and there are many government programs to help people settle down and feel at home in Ireland.

There are some large Mosques in Ireland and integration seems healthy and good.

  11. Yes there are. Just for reference, to alot of Fillipino, Pakistani, British, Iranian, Arabian and Affrican people are Muslim, so inevitably these people live all over the world. Indian or Asian people can come from Christian, Sikh, Muslim, Ba'hai, Buddist or non-religious Backrounds, being Indian or Asian generally refers to someones skin colour. So is it supprising that some Asian people may live in Ireland?

  12. sadly yes

  13. Indians are NOT Muslim....They are HINDU/SIKH...Why are you putting Indians alongside Muslims????

  14. they are everywhere

  15. Yes there a lot of different nationalities here in Ireland and as you can see from previous posts racism is rife unfortunately but in Dublin (where I live) there has always been an 'issue' with outsiders coming in 'to take all the jobs', first it was the 'muckas' (country people), then when the 'nordies' (people from north of Ireland) came in the muckas where not so bad and now that all the 'foreigners' have came in it is much more liberal for the muckas and nordies!  I really don't understand this attitude we populated most of the world it's about time we opened our doors to other nationalities and people have a very short memory we were hated for taking other people jobs when we lived in different countries.  Of course not everyone has that attitude but the ones who do give us a bad name.  Ah well maybe we will learn (I know I am going to be slaughtered on this)

  16. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOADS. lots of chinese aswell, isnt the mayor of Co. Laoise a Nigerian?

  17. The unstoppable tide.

  18. The single largest group of immigrants comes from the United Kingdom (112,548) followed by Poland (63,267), Lithuania (24,628), Nigeria (16,300), Latvia (13,319), the United States (12,475), China (11,161), and Germany (10,289).

94.8% of the population was recorded as having a 'White' ethnic or cultural background. 1.1% of the population had a 'Black or Black Irish' background, 1.3% had an 'Asian or Asian Irish' background and 1.7% of the population's ethnic or cultural background was 'not stated'.

  19. no they are all in england, the land of the freeloaders!

  20. I'm sure there are.  They're everywhere else.

  21. I saw few in Dublin when I was there for my vacation. Many immigrants are from eastern Europe I think. For all those who talk about unfortunate racism, I am very sorry but I do think that in every country there are people who always have problem with foreigners. However the good thing is that the rasicm and other discrimination cases are not protected by the law. As an AFrican I think that there are very very few African people there and I was Afraid to walk out in the night, and it was just a personal feeling. But generally I found people very kind and respectful in Dublin. people still have some human values that many westen and other rich countries has lost since long time. When economy gets better in any country during this globalisation era, we just cant avoid immigrants. Its a pitty that people will never get that to their heads. Just a personal opinion!!!

  22. Yes, all of the above are in Ireland.

This is a good thing. Ireland was far too insular for far too long, and put up with c**p food and service in restaurants, lack of innovation and drive, and lack of interest in anything much ... welcome to Ireland, people of the world.
