  1. Not as many as rthere are Mohammeds, neither Smiths for that metter in England.

Joking apart, there only msoquitos in the swampy areas - and dirches.

Normal gnats bite you at night if you leave the windows open, but eating lemon (a piece of the fruit) in the daytime will help your blood to be more acidic - mosquitos like alkaline blood - like mine!!

  2. yes especially places where their are fountains, wells, rivers, streams... becuase obviously mosquitos lay larve in the water.

my grandads house has a well and i always get eating by them. one thing i know helped was not wearing body lotion, scented creams deodrants and perfums. they like sweet things ( tested it on myself) over the past 17 years iv been going lol.

we also have midges in morocco same as in australia... they are more painful them mosquito bites and you actually feel it when they bite you. and they can cause infections if your body reatcs badly to their saliva. in july/august they will be flourishing in marakkesh and that area. and again they also liek marshey, areas with water source that is open.

very very worthwhile investing in a pop up mosquito net, that doesnt need to be attached anywhere so you can take it if you go camping in the sahara.

malaria is no problem there we dont have it in morocco, but for hygine reasons maybe take after bite cream to help reduce swelling and infection (caused by excessive itching!)

and try not to itch becuase they leave bad scares... i have some on myleg from 4 years ago.

tap water may upset your tummy becuase its treated differently to hear and you wont be used to it... so you may have upset tummy for a bit when you first go. so try and buy bottled water its not expensive.

dont buy ice lollies from small stalls or shops they often use un clean water for ice, like from wells. i knopw from personal experince. :(

    where looooads of sun block.

buy a money belt one which is not to obvious... there are pick pockets in morocco and they are good. soem situations liek in busy markets and in medina you may be in very very very close proximaty to people so that is good opportunity for some one to take your things and money, so try and secure things to you. i wear my fone around my neck but not withen view liek under my top keys attached to my belt and so on.

umm thats it me thinks.. good luck have fun, its lovely.

  3. It depends where, but you can be sure of encountering some :)

what you want to know, regarding what aspect?

ps: Never drank anything but tap water and managed to survive 23 years, it can't be that bad!

  4. Mosquitoes only around swampy areas. Lots of Sandflys, disease carrying fly and creepy crawlies.

Never drink tap water and never walk alone at night anywhere !

    Have a great holiday :o)

  5. Yes, you will need a good bug repellent. It's also worth knowing that you will be approached by Moroccan men wanting to show you around whichever city you're in - you have to be firm but polite in declining their services. Morocco is a great place to visit - I went to Rabat, Fes, and Marrakesch. Enjoy!

  6. Honestly it is like asking are there a lot of mosquitos in the USA. It just depends on where you are. Wherever there is standing water and warm weather you are going to encounter them (jungle conditions... swamps... etc) where there is not a lot in Morocco.

I have yet to encounter a lot of them at all and I frequent Rabat, Casablanca, Agadir, Marrakech, etc....

    Thanks

    Zelo
